GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Millsaps baseball program succeeded on the field as well as the classroom this past season earning the American Baseball Coaches Association's Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2021-22 school year.
The Majors tallied a cumulative GPA of 3.17 and were among total 420 NCAA institutions to earn the honor. The Southern Athletic Association saw six teams make the list: Berry, Birmingham-Southern, Centre, Millsaps, Rhodes and Sewanee.
Criteria for the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award include:
- Must be a high school or college team
- Head coach must be a current ABCA member
- Team must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale during the 2021-22 academic year
The Majors reached the SAA Championship Series and head coach
Jim Page earned SAA Coach of the Year recognition. A total of eight student-athletes were also named to the All-SAA Team.
