CONWAY, Ark. – The Millsaps men's basketball team were downed by Hendrix, 77-61 inside the Grove Gymnasium on Friday.
Freshman
Stewart Bonnecaze generated a career-high 14 points, while both classmate
Dakota Gasca and senior
Doug Watson netted 12 points.
The Majors tallied a 28-17 bench points advantage, but the Warriors fired 48.4 percent (30-of-62), including 30 percent from long range (9-of-30).
Hendrix started hot racing out to a 12-2 lead by the first media timeout and grew the advantage to 30-7 at the under-eight-minute media timeout of the first half.
The Warriors would lead as large as 40-11, but a pair of Gasca three-pointers would sandwich an 8-0 run and give Millsaps life.
The Majors would then utilize a 6-0 run, highlighted by back-to-back Bonnecaze layups to cut into the deficit further late in the half. Hendrix would give up a 16-5 Millsaps rally, but stay ahead 45-27 at intermission.
Millsaps would close to within 11 points at 57-46 with 12 minutes to play, but the Warriors would keep the visitor's comeback attempt at bay. Hendrix would hold on for a 77-61 win.
