MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Millsaps women's basketball team was shutdown offensively and fell to Rhodes College, 70-51 inside the Mallory Gymnasium on Sunday.
Millsaps (12-4, 3-2 SAA) won the turnover battle (24-11), but were outshot 47.3 percent (26-of-55) to 19.4 percent (13-of-67).
Rhodes College (8-7, 4-1 SAA) was outscored in bench points, 29-17 but controlled the paint with a 36-18 advantage.
Freshman
Elyse Warren (10 points, three rebounds) was one of three Majors to reach double figures in scoring. Junior
Helena Roe was strong on the boards, tallying eight rebounds.
Sophomore
Haley Franklin had another strong all-around effort with 17 points, seven rebounds, four steals, three assists and two blocks. She finished 11-of-14 from the free-throw line.
Senior
Devan Caldwell put the first points on the board to give Millsaps a 2-0 margin. With 1: 32 left in the first half, junior
DeZarae Stewart (11 points) tried to carry the team by nailing a three-pointer pulling Millsaps within four points down 30-26.
Rhodes outscored the Majors, 38-25 in the second half to pull away for a 70-51 victory in Memphis.
