DANVILLE, Ky. – The Millsaps men's basketball team's three-game winning streak was halted by Centre, 92-77 inside Alumni Gymnasium on Friday.
Senior
Doug Watson tallied 19 points and five rebounds, while freshman
Stewart Bonnecaze posted 19 points and three boards. Additionally, junior
Seth Stephen grabbed a career-high eight rebounds.
Centre controlled the boards (46-35 rebounds) and were advantageous with a 13-4 points-off-turnover edge.
The game was tied 39-39 at the half, which featured seven lead changes in the opening 20 minutes. The Colonels pulled away after the break with a lethal 50 percent clip from long range (8-of-16).
Centre would lead by as many as 16 points (74-58), but the Majors would fight back into the contest. Watson scored seven points and senior
Rodreekas Bush sank back-to-back treys to make it a 81-73 deficit following a 15-7 run, with 4:35 to play.
The Colonel defense would fortify from then on and hold for a 92-77 win.
