ATLANTA – Millsaps swimming and diving graduate student-athlete and 2022 NCAA national qualifier
Bryan Sullivan continued to open eyes across the country as he secured his third SAA Men's Swimmer of the Week recognition of the season, the conference office announced on Monday.
He helped the Majors secure two victories while posting three top-10 NCAA Division III times, eight individual school records and was a member of four relay records. Monday's weekly award encompasses meets from Nov. 1 through Jan. 8.
Sullivan assisted the Majors in besting Loyola New Orleans in a tri-match with Delta State on Nov. 5, dominating with wins in the 50-yard free (20.89 seconds) and 100-yard fly (52.21). The Jackson, Miss., native also posted a second-place showing in the 200-yard IM (2:01.55).
Sullivan then had the meet of his life as he helped set eight individual school records and aided four relay marks at the DSU Thanksgiving Invite, Nov. 18-20. A total of five individual finishes ranked in the top 10 across NCAA Division III following the meet.
In the 50-yard free he swam the top time in DIII this season to that point at a blistering 20.05 seconds (school record). He also swam 20.24 and 20.39 as well. At 100 yards in the same event, he tied the school record with a time of 45.98 (33rd DIII).
Sullivan also swam the 50-yard fly in 21.81 seconds, which is also the best time in DIII. Sullivan also posted three more top 10 DIII times in the 100 fly, 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke. His fly times included 47.74 and 48.03 seconds (fifth DIII, SR), while he cruised in the breaststroke at 55.43 and 55.54 seconds (seventh DIII, SR). In the 100 backstroke, Sullivan clocked 49.32 (eighth DIII).
Additionally, he established school records in the 50 back (23.19, 16th DIII) and 200 back (1:53.13, 31st DIII). Sullivan also covered the 50-yard breaststroke in 25.90 seconds, which ranks eighth nationally at DIII.
The MBA student was also the first leg of four record-setting relays, including the 200 free (1:27.75), 400 free (3:16.40), 200 medley (1:38.79) and 400 medley (3:45.24).
Lastly in a win hosting Centenary on Saturday, Jan. 7, he took home three victories in the 50-yard fly (22.09 seconds), 100-yard fly (51.66) and 100-yard breaststroke (59.71).
Sullivan was previously named the SAA Men's Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 3 and Oct. 17 as well as three times as a senior a season ago.
Millsaps will next compete in a pair of meets in Birmingham, Ala. on Friday, Jan. 20 at 4 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m. Friday's meet features host Birmingham-Southern and University of Tennessee Southern, while Sunday sees BSC and University of Montevallo.
