ATLANTA – Millsaps women's volleyball senior defensive specialist and libero
Margaret Richardson had a terrific weekend in Georgia. Her two matches were recognized by the Southern Athletic Association as she was named the SAA Volleyball Defensive Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Richardson combined for 52 digs, seven assists and a kill as the Majors narrowly fell to No. 12 Berry in four sets on Saturday, which was followed up by a thrilling five-set victory at Oglethorpe on Sunday.
The Pensacola, Fla., product posted a pair of career-high dig totals in each match. On Saturday, she recorded 23 digs, six assists and a kill. Richardson followed this up on Sunday with 29 digs and added an assist.
Both dig totals were the most by a Major this season. It is also the second time a Millsaps volleyball student-athlete was highlighted by the SAA. Junior
Anna Capezzera was named the SAA Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 5.
The Majors will next host Birmingham-Southern on Wednesday, beginning at 6 p.m. inside the Hangar Dome. Live video and live stats will be available at gomajors.com.
