ATLANTA – Millsaps men's soccer played the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe University on Sunday, falling 4-0 in Georgia.
The Majors were kept in the match by sophomore goalkeeper
Michael Hamauei, who made eight saves.
Hamauei was made to work early in the match, with the Petrels getting shots off in the eighth, 11th and 15th minutes, including one which he had to dive to his left.
The Petrels would get their first goal in the 17th minute of the game. The goal was scored by Adrian Levy. Levy would lead his team with shots, finishing the game with seven in total, three of which were on frame.
Hamauei would hold off the Petrels until the 33rd minute, when a goal was scored by Cristian Medina, giving the hosts a two-goal advantage going into halftime.
The second half saw similar success for the Stormy Petrels going forward with a penalty kick conversion in the 53rd minute and another strike in the 60th minute.
Millsaps would hold strong for the rest of the match, with Hamauei making several more key stops to prevent any further goals scored. Freshman
Ethan Pratt would attempt to break the shutout with a shot on target in the 86th minute.
