ATLANTA – A quartet of Millsaps football student-athletes stood out and were recognized by league coaches as part of the 2023 All-Southern Athletic Association Football Team, the conference office announced on Monday.
Junior punter
Ethan Klapatch made the All-SAA First Team for Defense, senior wideout
Temias Mason earned notice on the All-SAA Second Team for Offense, while freshman safety
Jeremiah Hall and sophomore defensive lineman
Braylon Wills secured All-SAA Honorable Mention recognition, following a league-wide vote by member head coaches.
Klapatch is the Majors' 2023 C Spire Conerly Trophy nominee after being named to the D3football.com Team of the Week a record four times in a season for a punter. He also was named the SAA Special Teams Player of the Week twice and ranks second in NCAA Division III with 45.8 average yards per punt.
He has also totaled 857 yards on 15 kickoffs for a 57.1-yard average. Klapatch garnered his third placement on the All-SAA Team after being named Honorable Mention as a freshman and a sophomore.
Mason ranks third in the conference with 600 receiving yards and fourth with 60 receiving yards per game.
The Snellville, Ga., native hauled in four touchdown catches and tallied the sixth-most receiving yards in a single-game in program history (192 vs. Hendrix on Sept. 23). He added five kickoff returns covering 103 yards.
Hall tallied the 25th-most tackles with 48 in his first collegiate season. His 31 solo stops sit 15th and his 4.8 tackles per game are 25th across the league as well.
A native of New Orleans, Hall also forced a fumble, tallied a safety and recorded three pass breakups. He grabbed a game-sealing interception in a 14-8 win at Birmingham-Southern on Sept. 30 as well.
Wills was prolific at getting into the backfield defensively. He tallied 8.0 tackles for loss, which stands as the 17th most in the SAA. His tackles for loss pushed opponents back 32 yards.
The Moundville, Ala., product tallied 2.5 sacks (23rd in SAA), contributing to 18 yards for loss. He also forced two fumbles, tying with several players for fifth in the SAA ranks. Additionally, he totaled 26 tackles and added a pass breakup.
