ATLANTA – The Millsaps men's swimming and diving program had another announcement to be thankful for as sophomore
Ben Anderson collected his third Southern Athletic Association Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week recognition of the season, the league office revealed in a press release on Wednesday.
Entering the college's Thanksgiving Break, Anderson set the program record in the 100-yard freestyle as the men's and women's programs combined for 13 school records at the Delta State University Thanksgiving Invitational, Nov. 17-19.
Anderson's fastest time of 45.95 seconds set in the prelims ranks 38th across NCAA Division III this season. He would finish runner-up in the finals with another impressive mark of 46.12.
Anderson also finished first in the 50-yard freestyle prelims (20.91) and second in those finals (21.28). Individually, he also competed well in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.84; fourth in prelims) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.63; ninth in prelims).
The Estes Park, Colo., native also helped all four of the Majors' relays finish third or fourth overall.
Wednesday's announcement follows the SAA Swimming Athlete of the Week plaudit on Nov. 8 as well as when junior
Kat Burns and Anderson swept the SAA Swimming Athlete of the Week recognition on Oct. 17.
The Majors will practice over the holidays and return to competition at Centenary College on Wednesday, Jan. 10.
