Freshman Garin Freeman Tallies Career-High 21 Points in Millsaps Thanksgiving Classic Finale

JACKSON, Miss. The Millsaps women's basketball team kept their winning streak alive as they dominated Centenary, 77-59 to close out the Millsaps Thanksgiving Classic on Sunday inside the Hangar Dome.

Freshman Garin Freeman posted a career-high 21 points to go along with six assists, eight rebounds, a block and a steal, while shooting 8-of-11 from the field and 5-of-5 from the free-throw line.

Junior Haley Franklin recorded 16 points, four assists and four steals and shot 8-of-11 at the line. Senior Helena Roe tallied along eight points, five rebounds and four blocked shots.

Millsaps dominated Centenary inside the paint (44-20) and the Majors bench held a 40-32 advantage thanks to Freeman's terrific day in reserve. Millsaps (5-1) outshot the Ladies 46.3 percent (25-of-54) to 32.3 percent (20-of-62).

In the third quarter alone, Millsaps took over with a 66.7 percent success rate (8-of-12) and tallied 27 points to pull away.

The Majors began the second quarter on fire with a nifty spin move by Franklin to cut the lead down to two points.

With 5:49 remaining in the opening half, Roe would sink back-to-back treys to narrow the lead down to 22-19. A jumper by Roe would later help Millsaps take a 30-28 lead at halftime.

In the third, Millsaps was hot from the start with a huge trey from junior Whitney Novak.

Freeman would erupt the crowd with a pair of dazzling and-one conversions and put the Majors ahead by 17 points with 2:25 on the third quarter clock.
