Men’s Basketball Stung by LeTourneau, 82-64 in Texas on Saturday

Devin Harris Tallies Career-High 19 Points, Eight Rebounds, Four Steals in Non-Conference Finale

LONGVIEW, Texas  The Millsaps men's basketball team played tough and physical on the court, but fell to LeTourneau, 82-64 inside the Solheim Arena on Saturday.
 
Freshman Devin Harris recorded a career-high 19 points, eight rebounds and four steals, while adding two assists on 7-of-13 shooting. Classmate Cameron Lumar chipped in 15 points, two assists, four rebounds and two steals added. Senior TJ Hogan finished with eight points and five rebounds while shooting 4-of-5 from the free-throw line.
 
Millsaps put up numbers in several statistical category totaling a 34-14 advantage in bench points while taking a 18-8 edge in second-chance opportunities. LeTourneau held a 15-5 advantage in fast break points and created a 17-9 cushion from points off turnovers.
 
In the first half, junior Nicholas Ughovwa gave the Majors an early 6-2 surge, but the YellowJackets would soon blank the Majors with a 3-pointer to take an 8-6 lead. LeTourneau would utilize a fast-break dunk to push ahead by 12 points with 11:21 remaining.
 
Later in the first half with five minutes on the clock, Lumar would respond back with a 3-pointer to cut the lead down 31-30. LeTourneau answered with a trey with six seconds on the clock to end the half ahead, 46-37.
 
The YellowJackets led the entire second half, but the Majors continued to play their heart out as they opened at the free-throw line, with make by sophomore Dakota Gasca and Harris.
 
Trailing by eight, Hogan would make a layup inside the paint to keep the score from going into double digits five minutes in. Millsaps would soon find themselves falling behind by 25 points with two minutes remaining on the scoreboard. The Majors continued to fight hard until the last blow, but LeTourneau would close out with an 82-64 victory at the finish.
