BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Millsaps men's basketball team was downed by Birmingham-Southern, 74-54 inside the Bill Battle Coliseum on Tuesday.
Sophomore
Evan Watson tallied a career-high 13 points to go along with two rebounds and an assist. Freshman
Cameron Lumar added eight points, three rebounds, one assist and a steal. Senior
TJ Hogan finished with seven points and one assist.
The Millsaps (2-10, 1-1 SAA) bench held a 40-27 advantage in bench points, while stretching a 18-5 edge in second chance points. Birmingham-Southern (7-6, 1-1 SAA) tallied a 22-2 margin in fastbreak points, while shooting 53.3 percent from the field in the second half.
The Majors fell behind in the first half 10-2 and with nine minutes remaining BSC would spread the lead to 25-6. The Panthers stood ahead at half, 36-13.
With three minutes left in the game, a junior
Nicholas Ughovwa jumper closed the deficit to 66-47 following a 23-5 Millsaps run.
The Majors would finish off strong at the free-throw line, but BSC held for a 74-54 win.
