COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Millsaps baseball team came up short in a non-conference matchup against MUW, falling 6-1 at Owls Park on Tuesday. The Majors were looking for the season sweep after downing the Owls, 9-6 in Jackson on March 21.

Chris Hart finished 2-5, while junior J
ackson Ware tallied one RBI and a double. Senior
Austin Arceneaux closed out the game with one hit and a run score as sophomore
Bradley Pelle batted 1-2 with a pair of walks.
The Majors utilized seven pitchers in a shared effort. Sophomore
Nick Tarantino (2.0 IP) and freshman
Ryan Laiche (1.0 IP) both allowed no runs and each struck out two batters.
The Owls scored the first run of the day in the top of the first and the lead would grow with three runs in the fourth and two in the fifth, creating a 6-0 advantage.
Millsaps looked to battle back and posted a run in the top of the sixth. Arceneaux would reach base on a two-out, hit by pitch. Ware then slapped a double to left center, bringing home his teammate.
Freshman
Mason Morgan and Hart later singled in the ninth inning, but MUW closed out the game to grab a 6-1 win over the Majors.
Millsaps will now return to conference play by traveling to Rhodes for a weekend series. First pitch of a Saturday doubleheader is set for 12 p.m. in Memphis, Tenn. Live video and live stats will be available at gomajors.com.
