JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps baseball program sets its sites on an SAA title and NCAA Tournament berth with a strong showing at SAA Championship Weekend, which will be hosted by Birmingham-Southern College, May 4-6.
Teams have been reseeded after SAA Opening Round Series last weekend. Advancing were No. 1 BSC, No. 2 Centre, No. 3 Berry and No. 4 Millsaps. The format will be double-elimination until one team remains undefeated or with only one loss.
SAA CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND
(Hosted at Birmingham-Southern)
- Admission: $5 General Admission, $3 Seniors & Grade school to college students
- Free for all Children 5 years old and younger
- Free for all SAA students/faculty/staff with SAA ID
- Gates will open 90 minutes prior to game time
- Admission is CASH ONLY
- Concession will accept cash and card payments
- Pets must remain on a leash at ALL times and fans must clean up after their pets

OPENING ROUND SERIES RECAP
The Majors vanquished Rhodes to advance to SAA Championship Weekend with identical 9-3 triumphs in Memphis, April 28-29. In game one, Millsaps jumped out to an 8-0 lead by the fifth inning. Graduate
Chris Hart finished with two RBIs, two hits, two stolen bases and a walk. Junior
Case Page batted 3-5, adding two RBIs and a run, while freshman
EJ Ousley led the Majors with three RBIs.
Freshman
Stewart Bonnecaze, recently named the Millsaps Athletics Men's Newcomer of the Year, pitched 5.1 innings with six strikeouts and two walks, while only allowing three runs against six hits. Sophomore
Nick Tarantino closed out the final 3.2 innings without surrendering a run and only one hit. He added four strikeouts holding the Lynx to one walk.
On Saturday, senior
Wil Wood dominated by pitching his third complete game of the season and longest of his career, going all nine innings. Using 118 pitches, the Memphis, Tenn., native struck out four Lynx, while holding the opponents to two earned runs, two walks and four hits.
Senior
Sam Pitre posted a 4-for-5 day at the dish with two RBIs and a run scored. Hart, junior
David Abbadessa, sophomore
Bradley Pelle and Ousley each recorded two hits, while the Majors combined for 16 in total. Pelle scored three times, added two RBIs and homered. Page also brought the power with a homer of his own.
