LONGVIEW, Texas – The Millsaps men's soccer team was stopped by LeTourneau on the road with a pair of early and late goals, falling 2-0 on Saturday.
The Yellowjackets recorded an 8-2 shots-on-goal advantage, which saw sophomore goalkeeper
Michael Hamauei make six saves at LETU Soccer Field. Hamauei combined for an impressive 21 saves on the weekend.
It was a physical match with the teams combining for seven yellow cards, while the Yellowjackets held a 6-2 margin on corner kicks.
Senior
Jacks Dowdy produced two shot attempts and a shot on goal, while freshman
Brandon Arias also tallied a shot on goal.
LeTourneau (2-2-0) netted the match's first shot and goal in the sixth minute. They would hold Millsaps (0-2-2) without a shot attempt, but the score remained 1-0 in favor of the Yellowjackets at halftime.
Dowdy registered a shot in the 63rd minute trying to tie the match back up. The Major pressure would continue with shot attempts in the 69th and 71st minutes. Arias would then force the LeTourneau keeper to make a final save in the 82nd minute.
Continuing to create chances themselves, the Yellowjackets would draw a foul in the box and score off a penalty kick with 32 seconds remaining.
