CONWAY, Ark. – The Millsaps men's soccer team dueled against Hendrix College on Friday at Warrior Field in an intense conference matchup. The match was close most of the way, but Hendrix finished on top, 2-0.
The Warriors outshot the Majors 11-4, but only held a slim 3-1 edge for shots on target.
The Majors were lead for most of this game by senior
Jacks Dowdy, who had four shots, including one in the closing minutes.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair, with both sides making efforts on goal. Millsaps sophomore goalkeeper
Michael Hamauei made a big-time save to keep the Majors in it early. With about ten minutes left in the half, Hamaeui displayed a diving save to his right.
Hendrix outnumbered the Majors on corners, 10-2. It was off one of these corners that they scored their first goal of the game. In the 37th minute, Holt Bliss found Jensen Pechar on a corner and found the back of the net for Hendrix.
Millsaps held out for a large portion of the second half, but Hendrix sealed the game with a goal in the 86th minute.
Both sides had players sent off in the closing minutes of the first half, causing the entirety of the second half being played 10 versus 10.
