Kade Folse’s Late Strike Pulls Men’s Soccer into Tie at ETBU

Sophomore Michael Hamauei Tallied Career-High 15 Saves in 2-2 Thriller on Thursday

MARSHALL, Texas – Battling boiling, 100-plus degree temperatures, the Millsaps men's soccer team came back for a 2-2 draw against ETBU on Thursday. Junior Kade Folse scored in the closing minute and sophomore goalkeeper Michael Hamauei made a career-high 15 saves, keeping the Majors alive at Cornish Field.

Freshman Ryan Hoover scored his first collegiate goal and sophomore Sam Cagle posted three shot attempts with one shot on goal. Hamauei's previous best save total was 10 stops last season.

ETBU (0-1-2) outshot the Majors, 27-8 with a 17-4 on-target advantage. However, Millsaps (0-1-2) proved resilient.

The Tigers opened the scoring with their fourth shot finding the back of the net in the seventh minute.

Not even two minutes later, Cagle rang a shot off the right side of the goal post, narrowly missing tying the game.

Hamauei would face several more shots before Hoover would secure a goal in the lower center of the net in the 42nd minute.

Teams would trade chances early in the second half when Cagle grabbed his third shot attempt in the 59th minute.

Eventually the Tigers found the lead once more in the 87th minute, but Millsaps would continue to battle until the final whistle.

Following a Tiger yellow card, Hamauei would send a free kick from midfield into the ETBU box with 30 seconds remaining. The ball would pinball around until Folse found it and buried the tying score with 17 seconds on the clock.

The Majors will remain in the Texas Lone Star State to face LeTourneau on Saturday, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Live video and stats can be found at gomajors.com.
