MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Millsaps men's basketball team was bested by Berry, 86-63 inside the Cage Center on Sunday.
Millsaps (5-13, 4-4 SAA) won the second chance battle 8-4, but was outscored by Berry (9-9, 6-1 SAA) in bench points, 48-39. The hosts shot 61 percent (16-of-26) from the field in the first half and finished the afternoon 48.5 percent (16-of-33) from long range.
Sophomore
Evan Watson posted 14 points, two rebounds and a steal, while freshman
Devin Harris tallied 11 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Junior
Nicholas Ughovwa highlighted 10 points, one assist and one rebound, while shooting 4-of-6 from the field.
Both teams were even six minutes into the game at 13-13. The Vikings would move ahead by 14 nearly eight minutes later following a 3-pointer. Berry would later hold their advantage at 46-30 heading into intermission.
An Ughowva layup shortened the lead to 14, but Berry built a 77-46 margin to stay on top with 8:11 to play.
The Majors cut into the deficit, but Berry gained the 86-63 triumph.
