MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Millsaps women's basketball team finished its four-game road trip, but fell to Berry, 82-65 inside the Cage Center on Sunday.
The Vikings couldn't miss from the field in the fourth quarter, netting 13 free throws and eight field goals, including 4-of-6 from three-point range.
Millsaps (16-3, 7-1 SAA) outrebounded Berry by a 43-29 margin, outscored their opponents 26-14 inside the paint and 14-3 in second chance points. The game would feature eight ties and seven lead changes.
Freshman
Garin Freeman netted 13 points, three assists, three rebounds and two steals. Junior
Whitney Novak posted 12 points, six rebounds, one assist and a block.
Freshman
Tia Anderson recorded 12 points, six rebounds and two steals. Sophomore
Elyse Warren added eight points, 13 rebounds, while tallying a block and steal on defense.
Junior
Haley Franklin accumulated nine points, four assists, with a pair of steals and blocks.
Berry (11-7, 5-2 SAA) opened the first quarter leading 6-1, but a Freeman 2-pointer would quickly tie the game at 6-6.
Both teams would proceed to trade points through the quarter as Anderson closed the first with a 3-pointer to make it an 18-15 Millsaps advantage.
Franklin would extend the lead to five with a layup two minutes into the second quarter.
Junior
Emily Adams tallied a trey to keep Millsaps out front, 26-21 with 4:07 on the clock. The Vikings tied the contest at 26-26 before a Freeman layup would send the Majors into halftime leading, 30-26.
In the third quarter, the Millsaps lead expanded by nine points following a 9-0 run, with an Anderson layup assisted by Franklin.
The Vikings battled back to tie the game at 39-39 prior to the Majors holding a narrow 50-49 edge entering the final frame.
Opening the final quarter, Berry converted back-to-back 3-pointers to take the lead, 55-50.
Millsaps not giving up would fall behind as the Vikings would get the upper hand. Berry led by as many as 22 points late and snapped the Majors' six-game winning streak and 7-0 start in SAA play.
