Women’s Soccer Unable to Overcome Sewanee

Majors Bettered by Tigers, 6-0 on Friday

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Millsaps women's soccer team fell in a road conference matchup to Sewanee, 6-0 at Puett Field on Friday night. 
 
Millsaps was challenged by the Tigers in every statistical category with junior goalkeeper Emily Lozano making nine saves. 
 
Sewanee delivered the first tally in the eighth minute of the first half to grab a 1-0 lead. 
 
Lozano would come down with a huge save in the 15th minute to keep the Tigers from garnering their second tally. 
 
Lozano would capture another save to stop Sewanee in the 18th minute. 
 
In the 25th minute, Lozano would attack her opponents once again with a fantastic save inside the goalpost to keep the Majors' confidence alive. 
 
Sewanee then booted a shot at the top of the crossbar in the 26th minute. 
 
At the 28th minute, the Tigers would extend their lead to 2-0 with a kick high left inside the goal. 
 
Sewanee would battle with Lozano once again in the 30th and 31st minutes, only to be stopped again by the keeper. 
 
The Tigers would continue moving forward following another goal scored in the 35th minute. Sewanee would go into half time carrying a 3-0 lead. 
 
In the 50th minute of the second half, Lozano would haul in a catch in both arms to keep the Tigers out of scoring range. 
 
However, three minutes later the Tigers would see the back of the net to build their advantage to 4-0. 
 
Sewanee would continue finding offensive success by tallying their fifth goal in the 64th minute and sixth score in the 89th minute. 
 
The Majors return to action on Sunday in Danville, Ky. and will face Centre College. Match start is scheduled for 10 a.m. CT and live video and live stats will be available at gomajors.com.
