Majors Fall to Colonels, 5-0 in Kentucky on Sunday

DANVILLE, Ky. – The Millsaps women's soccer team fell to Centre College, 5-0 in a tough-fought Southern Athletic Association matchup on the road at Amend Soccer Field on Sunday.

Junior goalkeeper Emily Lozano stood out for the Majors with a career-high 15 saves against the Colonels.

Lozano stopped Centre from scoring in the first half following a crucial save within the fourth minute of the match.

After the Lozano stop, Millsaps would send the Colonels kick away with another stop in the 14th minute.

Lozano would come up large yet again in the 19th minute by stopping a penalty try to keep the match scoreless.

The Colonels would tally their first goal of the match to move ahead 1-0 following a connection to the lower left of the goal in the 27th minute.

Lozano would keep the Colonels from scoring by shutting down three consecutive shots in the 28th and 29th minute.

At the 42nd minute, Centre would extend their lead to 2-0 right before halftime.

In the opening minute of the second half, Centre would score their third goal of the match.

However, in the 52nd minute Lozano would grab three consecutive saves and a fourth five minutes later.

Centre added its fourth goal in the 75th minute ushered by a shot to the lower center of goal.

The hosts would round up their last goal of the match 10 minutes later to better the Majors, 5-0.
