JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps women's soccer team fell to Oglethorpe, 4-0 during Senior Day at Harper Davis Field on Sunday. The Majors honored six incredibly hard-working student-athletes, including
Nicole Balduccini,
Chloee Beebe,
Lily Butcher,
Ana Cuesta,
Richelle Sanchez and
Andy Webb.
Junior
Haley James recorded one shot attempt in the SAA regular-season finale, while freshman
Suzanna Busbee accumulated one shot on frame.
Oglethorpe (5-7-2, 1-3-1 SAA) outnumbered the Majors (15-2) in total shots, while junior
Emily Lozano captured six saves to the Stormy Petrels' one.
Lozano collected two consecutive saves in the ninth and 10th minutes to open the match.
After Lozano's saves, Oglethorpe would soon score to sustain a 1-0 lead.
The Stormy Petrels would extend their margin to 2-0 in the 11th minute.
Oglethorpe would continue their scoring streak in the 41st minute to close out the first half ahead, 3-0.
In the second half, Lozano would stop the Stormy Petrels in the 49th minute from a kick at the right side of the goal post.
In the 56th minute, James took a shot left hoping to give the Majors their first score. Busbee would come behind James with a shot toward the bottom center of the soccer mouth. Oglethorpe came down with the save.
Lozano added four more second-half saves before Oglethorpe netted a fourth goal in the 77th minute.
The Stormy Petrels would triumph over the Majors 4-0 as the final SAA matchup would come to a conclusion.
The Majors will be back in action to face Huntingdon in the regular-season finale on Friday, Oct. 25 at Harper Davis Field, beginning at 4 p.m. Live video and live stats will be available at gomajors.com.
