Men’s Golf Finishes Fall Slate Well at Chick-fil-A Invitational

Freshman Charlie Berglund Ties for 12th in Georgia on Tuesday

ROME, Ga. The Millsaps men's golf team closed out their fall slate strong by finishing 12th amongst other NCAA Division III institutions and Southern Athletic Association opponents at the Chick-fil-A Invitational. The event was hosted by Berry College at the Stonebridge Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.
 
Freshman Charlie Berglund recorded a season-best finish in his fourth collegiate competition with a 12th-place tie. Berglund led the squad with a plus-4 (71-77—148), while sinking four birdies and sitting under par for 14 of 18 holes in the first round.
 
In the second round, Berglund boasted back-to-back birdies on the 16th and 17th holes to finish out the two-day course well. 
 
Senior Will Danielson, continuing his solid fall season, tied for 19th with a plus-5 (71-78—149). 
 
Danielson posted his second best of the season at the Chick-fil-A invitational after posting an incredible start at the Greystone Fall Invitational to jumpstart his senior campaign on Sept. 8.
 
The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, native finished third in the two-day event and was named to the Greystone Fall Invitational All-Tournament Team and was selected the SAA Men's Golf Athlete of the Week.  
 
Sophomore Jason Howe bettered his own placement on Tuesday from the previous competition where he tied for 75th in the West Pines Collegiate on Oct. 8.  
 
Howe tied for 54th at the Stonebridge Golf Club in Rome, Ga., with a plus-10 (79-75—154) following two rounds of competition.  
 
Junior Steven Noack finished out the Chick-fil-A Invitational tied for 88th with a plus-15 (78-81—159) to complete the Major scoring. 
 
Freshman Miles Harrison tied in the 93rd spot with a plus-16 (79-81—160) to close out at the Stonebridge Golf Club. 
 
Senior Thomas Arensberg completed the event tied for 107th out of 128 competitors where he contested a plus-20 (78-86—164).  
 
The Majors will now set their sights on the spring season. Stay tuned for updates as their schedule will be finalized and added to the Millsaps men's golf schedule page in the coming weeks.
