Huntingdon Surpasses Men’s Basketball, 83-52

Majors Fall in Hawks Classic Finale on Saturday

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  The Millsaps men's basketball team was bettered by Huntingdon College, 83-52 in the Hawks Classic finale inside the Roland Gymnasium on Saturday. 
 
Junior Dakota Gasca led the way for the Majors with 13 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals, while shooting 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. 
 
Sophomore Devin Harris recorded 12 points, two rebounds, two steals and an assist against the Hawks. 
 
Junior Caleb Kent posted seven points, five rebounds, one steal and one assist. 
 
In the beginning of the first half, Huntingdon (4-0) tipped in the first points with a layup inside the paint. Gasca would give Millsaps (1-2) their first tally following a one-handed layup toward the rim. 
 
Moments later Huntingdon would extend their lead to 9-2 from a three-pointer. 
 
Harris would bring the margin down by three following a back-to-back layup and jumper. 
 
As the first half continued Huntingdon expanded their lead to 22-15 following another layup inside the interior. 
 
The Hawks would build their scoring margin by 12 points with 7:45 to go in the first half. 
 
However, Gasca would cut the Majors deficit back down from double digits following two made free throws from the foul line with four minutes remaining. 
 
Huntingdon though finished the half strong with a dunk to lead at halftime, 45-25. 
 
In the second half, Huntingdon's largest lead grew to 31 point and concluded the matchup with another dunk to claim an 83-52 decision on Saturday. 
 
The Majors will be back in action on Tuesday at Belhaven in Jackson, Miss., beginning at 7:30 p.m. Live video and live stats will be provided at gomajors.com.
