IRVING, Texas – The Millsaps women's basketball team won their seventh consecutive game by routing the University of Dallas, 82-57 inside the Maher Athletic Center on Wednesday.
Junior Elyse Warren led the Majors with her eighth double-double of the season, accumulating 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Senior Haley Franklin recorded 17 points, four assists and five rebounds, while shooting 7-of-11 from field goal range.
Seniors Whitney Novak and Taylor Frank (one block, and one steal) both registered eight points and five boards.
Sophomore Garin Freeman finished with seven points, three steals and one block against the Crusaders.
Senior Emily Adams and junior Maddy Maw both chipped in six points, while Adams recorded season highs with six assists and five rebounds.
Millsaps (8-1) outnumbered U-Dallas (0-7) in every statistical category, with the Majors holding a 36-15 advantage in bench points, while taking a 44-26 lead in the paint. U-Dallas would also fall behind 23-10 in fast break opportunities.
Franklin gave the Majors their first points of the first quarter off a layup assisted by Adams.
Millsaps would extend their hot start to 7-0 as Novak knocked down a trey behind the three-point line.
The Crusaders would soon jump on board with a made jump shot 90 seconds in.
Warren would continue the Majors' scoring opportunities inside the paint as the Crusaders would again fall behind by seven points.
Millsaps would continue to dominate against their opponents as a Warren layup would conclude the Major scoring in the first quarter as the team pushed ahead, 22-12.
In the second quarter, Millsaps dominated the Crusaders with a 29-9 scoring advantage.
Maw would enter the game and knock down a gritty three-pointer to continue Millsaps' stretch up to 14 points.
Midway through the second quarter, Franklin would blank the Crusaders with three consecutive layups as sophomore
Tia Anderson (five rebounds, two steals, and two assists) provided a steal on defense on the last basket.
As the second quarter concluded, Freeman captured a layup inside the paint at the buzzer to give Millsaps their largest lead of the half at 30 points. Millsaps would hold off the Crusaders, 51-21 to go into halftime.
In the beginning of the third quarter, Freeman would continue taking over the court following an easy layup inside the paint.
Franklin finished the rest in the bottom of the third quarter with a made free throw from the foul line to strengthen the Majors' margin to 64-34.
In the opening of the fourth quarter, Novak would drain a deep shot beyond the arch before an Adams layup gave the Majors their largest lead of the contest at 37 points.
Millsaps would continue to stay in front for the remainder of the fourth quarter by a healthy margin as freshman
Dove Leach closed out the contest with a free-throw make to help take down the Crusaders, 82-57 on Wednesday.
The Majors will continue action on the road against Centenary on Friday, beginning at 5 p.m.
