ATLANTA – A pair of Millsaps baseball student-athletes were recognized by the Southern Athletic Association as the season's first SAA Baseball Athletes of the Week, following a coaches' vote and press release on Monday.
 
Junior right fielder Bradley Pelle earned his first SAA Baseball Player of the Week plaudit, while graduate pitcher Wil Wood was tabbed the SAA Pitcher of the Week by league coaches for the third time. Millsaps bested LeTourneau on the road, 8-7 and 17-8 last Friday during Opening Day.

Pelle hit 2-for-4 with a triple and a double in Game One. He followed in Game Two with a sensational 4-for-4 outing, which featured a home run, double, three RBIs, a walk, stolen base, hit by pitch and six runs scored.

Wood was terrific as the Opening Day starter, throwing four scoreless innings with four strikeouts against three hits and three walks to earn the Game One win.

The Majors are back at Twenty Field to welcome Huntingdon in the home opener on Tuesday, starting at 3 p.m. Live video and live stats will be provided at gomajors.com.
