JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps volleyball program readies for the 2024 season after unveiling its jam-packed and anticipated fall schedule, which was announced by the Millsaps College Department of Athletics on Thursday.
The Majors are set to serve in three invitationals, 13 home matches and 12 conference contests ahead of the 2024 SAA Volleyball Championship, hosted in mid-November.
The regular season begins in Shreveport, La. with the Country Cajun Classic, Aug. 29-31. Centenary College will welcome Millsaps and other competitors for to-be-announced matches.
The Majors will then travel to Memphis, Tenn. for the Rhodes College Classic, facing the University of Dallas and Elmhurst University on Sept 6. Millsaps will conclude the weekend against Moravian University and LeTourneau University on Sept. 7.
Huntingdon College offers the Majors' their first regular-season test inside the Hangar Dome on Sept. 12. A group of six teams will then travel to Jackson as the Majors host the annual Millsaps Invitational, featuring 12 total matches over Sept. 13-14. Austin College, Belhaven University, Centenary College and McMurry University look to challenge the Majors during that span.
Millsaps will remain at home to battle LaGrange College on Sept. 21 before beginning SAA action at Berry College on Sept. 28 and at Oglethorpe University on Sept. 29.
The team will then trek back to Jackson, Miss. to contend with Hendrix College (Oct. 5) and Rhodes College (Oct. 6), with both matches starting at 12 p.m. inside the Hangar Dome. Crosstown foe Tougaloo College makes the short drive and faces the Majors to end the three-match homestand on Oct. 8.
The squad will then take a two-match road trip in hopes of acing past Centre College on Oct. 12 and Sewanee on Oct. 13.
Millsaps will return to Jackson for four final home contests versus Oglethorpe (Oct. 19), Berry (Oct. 20), Centre (Oct. 26) and Sewanee (Oct. 27).
The Majors will then embark on a three-match road swing to close the regular-season campaign at Rhodes (Nov. 2), Hendrix (Nov. 3) before rounding out the calendar at Belhaven (Nov. 8). Millsaps swept the Blazers in a pair of matches last season.
Conference supremacy and an automatic berth to the NCAA Championship will be on the line when the 2024 SAA Volleyball Championship takes place, Nov. 15-17. The No. 1 overall seed from the regular-season standings will host the postseason event.
