SHREVEPORT, La. – The Millsaps men's and women's swimming and diving programs competed in a regular-season finale dual meet at Centenary College on Friday.
The women's squad had seven event wins and took home a 102-78 triumph over the Ladies. The men gave their all in the pool, but were outswam, 133-49 against the Gents inside the Centenary Fitness Center.
Senior Kat Burns had a strong performance in all four of the events she competed in.
The Daphne, Ala., native finished first in both the 50-yard freestyle (26.26 seconds) and 100-yard freestyle (58.34). Burns also took second place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.30).
Classmate Chloee Beebe stood out as well against the Ladies. The Slidell, La., product was a first-place contender in the 200-yard freestyle (2:14.46). Beebe also led the way in the 100-yard butterfly (1:07.73).
Senior Catherine Passarelli was also victorious swimming amongst five competitors in the 500-yard freestyle (5:49.62). She was runner-up as well in the 200-yard IM (2:28.60).
Freshman Chloe Barnard placed second in two individual events, including the 50-yard freestyle (29.45) and 100-yard backstroke (1.14.76).
Junior Zoe Cowell had a huge standout day as well. She collected second in the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.57) and third in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.59) and 200-yard IM (2:35.21).
Freshman Samantha Himel finished close behind Barnard in the 100-yard backstroke where she swam (1:16.17) in the 13th event.
The Majors of Beebe, Barnard, Passarelli and graduate Ginny Ray Clevenger claimed victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:53.02).
Passarelli, Burns, Beebe and Himel were also second in the 200-yard medley relay (2:04.20).
On the men's side, junior Ben Anderson had a strong showcase against the Gents. Anderson finished in first place in both the 50-yard freestyle (22.76) and 100-yard freestyle (50.05).
He was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.37) as well.
Junior Andrew Meadows was third in the 200 yard IM (2:21.70).
Classmate Jackson Van Meter was also third in 100-yard freestyle, boasting a 53.83 at the finishing point. Sophomore Payton Jones was third as well in the 500-yard freestyle (5:44.16).
Meadows, Anderson, Van Meter and junior Kaiden Auzenne combined for a second-place showing (1:49.28) in the 200-yard medley relay.
The Millsaps men and women's programs will next conclude the season at the 2025 SAA Swimming and Diving Championships, Feb. 12-15. Centre College will host the event in Danville, Ky.
