CANTON, Ga. — Millsaps football sophomore kicker
Connor Babin continued his impressive start to the season and was named the Southern Athletic Association Special Teams Athlete of the Week for the second time, which was selected by the conference's Sports Information Directors and announced by the conference office on Monday.
On Saturday, Babin was a key contributor in the Majors' 45-19 victory at Rhodes. He finished 6-for-6 on PATs, while adding a 26-yard field goal on his lone attempts. He also sent eight kickoffs 463 yards (57-yard average) to control field position.
Babin was also selected the SAA Special Teams Athlete of the Week on Sept. 15 after a dominant performance against Centenary College. He currently leads the conference with five field goals made in five games. Babin has now totaled 36 kickoffs for 2,066 yards (57.4-yard average) this season.
The Fulshear, Texas, native has now been recognized twice by the SAA alongside Millsaps freshman quarterback
Grant Bizjack. Bizjack was voted the SAA Football Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 22 and Oct. 5. Millsaps has now earned an SAA weekly honor following the team's last four games.
The Majors will now return to Harper Davis Field and host Maryville College for Homecoming on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. with live video and live stats links available at gomajors.com.
