GEORGETOWN, Texas — The Millsaps men's soccer team fell to Southwestern University, 7-0 at Southwestern Varsity Fields on Friday.
Senior
Michael Hamauei recorded three saves in the first half, facing a total of 12 shots. Freshman
Edward Steinwand added two saves in the second half while facing seven shots.
Classmate
Tyler Hervey contributed defensively, registering two shots, including one on goal.

Sam Cagle and
Hogan Payne each recorded a shot on goal against the the Pirates. Southwestern (13-0-3, 5-0-0 SAA) entered the match ranked No. 19 in the NCAA National Power Index Rankings.
The first half began with Millsaps (7-6-2, 1-4 SAA) facing early pressure from Southwestern with the Pirates scoring their first two goals in the 2nd and 7th minutes to take an early 2-0 lead over the Majors.
Southwestern would soon extend their lead to 3-0 in the 17th minute as Millsaps trailed behind in the first half of competition.
Despite efforts from the Majors to recover, Lopez did not stop competing at his best as he contested a shot in the 11th minute of the contest that was stopped by Southwestern goalkeeper at the bottom of the field.
As the matchup continued between both teams, Southwestern maintained their lead over the Majors, adding two more goals in the 39th and 41st minutes to end the first half ahead, 5-0. In the second half, the Pirates scored twice within the 50th and 53rd minutes of play.
Facing their opponents, Wilkins made a great kick in the 72nd minute, while Cagle seized an opportunity to challenge Southwestern's goalkeeper with a strike in the 81st minute.
However, Southwestern's goalie would save both kicks recorded by Wilkins and Cagle to keep the Majors off the scoreboard. The second half ended with Millsaps trailing 7-0, as Southwestern would claim the triumph on Friday.
The Majors will be back in action on Sunday to face No.16 NPI ranked Trinity University on Sunday in San Antonio, Texas. beginning at 1:30 p.m. Live video and live stats will be available at gomajors.com.
