JACKSON, Miss. — The Millsaps women's soccer team was unable to stop Sewanee's offensive performance, falling 7-0 at Harper Davis Field on Sunday.
Sewanee (6-1-2, 1-0-1) fired off 38 total shots with 21 on target against the Majors.
Senior Emily Lozano played a crucial role for the Majors, recording 14 saves for the second consecutive match of the weekend.
Her performance in goal included five saves in the first half and an impressive nine saves in the second half.
The first half saw the Majors face early pressure, with Lozano making pivotal key saves, including stopping a shot with her gloves two minutes into the contest.
Despite Lozano's incredible efforts, the Tigers found the net in the seventh minute to score their first goal.
Moments later, Sewanee would attack the Majors at the goal once more, resulting in another netted goal to take a 2-0 lead in the 21st minute.
Lozano continued to be active in net, denying a Tigers' kick in the 38th minute as Sewanee looked to challenge her.
The Tigers increased their lead with another score inside the box in the 43rd minute before ending the first half, leading 3-0.
In the second half, Sewanee maintained their offensive pressure, registering multiple shots early on.
However, Sewanee would continue taking over in the second half with four goals scored to take down the Majors, 7-0 on Sunday.
The Majors will remain at home to face Berry on Saturday, Oct. 11 at Harper Davis Field, beginning at 11 a.m. Live video and live stats will be available at gomajors.com.
