Millsaps Golf Faces Challenging Field at Carla Spenkoch Invitational

Trio of Majors Place in Top 25 in Texas

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The Millsaps College men's and women's golf programs continued their fall season at the Carla Spenkoch Invitational, hosted by Trinity University at The Quarry Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas, Monday and Tuesday. The Majors finished fifth out of seven teams in the competitive three-round tournament on the men's side.

The Majors produced consistent play across the field, combining for a strong overall team performance across all three rounds of action, combining for a plus-33 (297-292-296—885).

Junior Jason Howe led the way for Millsaps, tying for 14th place with a three-round total of 218 (+5). Howe remained steady play throughout the tournament, turning in his most complete performance of the fall season (73-73-72).

Sophomore Miles Harrison followed closely behind, finishing 17th with a 219 (+6) over three rounds, marking one of his lowest tournament totals of the year.

Sophomore Charlie Berglund also turned in a solid effort, placing 23rd with a 223 (+10).

Freshman William Jeonsson tied for 26th after carding a 227 (+14), while junior Julius Kroell placed 31st with a 231 (+18).

Senior Steven Noack rounded out the lineup, tying for 33rd with a 233 (+20) after two days of play as an individual.

On the women's side, sophomore Abigail Cerwick represented the Majors, placing 34th with a two-round total of 178 (+36).

The Millsaps men's and women's golf teams will return to action later this month as they continue tournament play at Berry College for the Chick-fil-A Invitational at Stonebridge Golf Club in Rome Georgia. The men will compete on Oct. 20-21 and the women's team will compete on Oct. 27-28 in Rome, Ga.
