Grant Bizjack Selected Millsaps Football’s C Spire Conerly Trophy Nominee

Freshman Quarterback Named Five-Time Conference Player of the Week this Season

JACKSON, Miss. Millsaps football freshman quarterback Grant Bizjack has been named the team's 2025 C Spire Conerly Trophy by the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum on Tuesday.

Bizjack has posted phenomenal numbers in nine starts in his initial collegiate campaign for the Majors. A five-time Southern Athletic Association Football Offensive Athlete of the Week, Bizjack ranks second in the conference in total yards (2,784), total yards per game (309.2), passer efficiency rating (165.47), passing yards per game (249.2), passing touchdowns (21) and completion percentage at 65 percent (161-of-247).

His 2,243 passing yards rank third, his rushing yards per game stand fifth (60.0), while his rushing yard total currently rank sixth across the conference at the conclusion of the regular season. The Trophy Club, Texas, product added three rushing scores and only threw five interceptions. Across NCAA Division III, he currently is 15th in passing yards per game and 19th with 9.08 passing yards per attempt.

Bizjack was key in helping the Majors total their most overall wins and conference wins since 2013, finishing 2025 with a 6-4 record.

He also etched his name in Millsaps football record book in several categories. He is now third in total yards per game, fourth in total yards, sixth in passing yards, tied for seventh in passing touchdowns and ninth in passing completions. The freshman signal caller also became the program's first five-time Conference Athlete of the Week for a single season since 1994.

Each college and university in the state with a football program selects one player who they feel best represents their team as the Most Outstanding Player to be nominated for the prestigious award. This year's winner will become the 30th recipient since the program started in 1996. Named in honor of Ole Miss and NFL star Charlie Conerly, the award is voted on by a panel of media and NFL scouts who cover college football in the state.

This award has come to represent the Mississippi version of the Heisman Trophy. It is highly coveted and respected throughout the country. Previous winners of the C Spire Conerly Trophy have gone on to successful NFL careers including Eli Manning, Jerious Norwood, Dak Prescott, and Evan Engram. Two former recipients, Deuce McAllister and Patrick Willis, have been enshrined in the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame.

Juan Joseph was the recepient of the Conerly Trophy in 2008 and he still is the only NCAA Division III player in the state to do so.

Bizjack and his teammates will also await the announcement of the 2025 All-SAA Football Team on Wednesday.
