Men's Basketball Picked Sixth in SAA Preseason Poll

Majors Feature Talented Squad, New Coaching Staff

CANTON, Ga. – The Southern Athletic Association announced the 2025-26 men's basketball preseason poll on Thursday. The Millsaps College men's basketball team received 26 points and are predicted to finish sixth in the conference.

Last year the Majors finished with a 5-21 (3-9 SAA) record, finishing sixth out of the then-7 teams. Millsaps closed its regular-season home conference play with two wins over Hendrix and a victory over Rhodes before eventually falling in the First Round of the conference tournament to the eventual runner-ups, Centre College.

The Majors are excited for the arrival of new head coach Connor Kuykendall and his assistant Griffin Levine. The Majors bring back 2024-25 All-SAA Honorable Mention guards Caleb Kent and Dakota Gasca along with 2023-24 All-SAA Honorable Mention guard Cameron Lumar.

Along with these two key returners, the Majors bring in a talented class of transfers who will look to make a difference from the jump. The Majors hope to rely on their very deep roster of both returners and newcomers to make a push up the SAA standings this year.

Millsaps is predicted to finish sixth in the SAA with 26 points. Centre is predicted to claim first with 50 points and two first-place votes.

Conference newcomer, Trinity, placed just behind the Colonels with 49 points despite receiving three first-place votes. Back-to-back SAA champion Berry fell to number three in a tie with Rhodes at 42 points each. The Vikings received two first-place tallies, while the Lynx received one.
