JACKSON, Miss. – Millsaps softball hosted No. 5 Belhaven University in the Riverside Rivalry, but fell 7-2 at the Millsaps College Softball Complex on Tuesday.
Sophomore
Ella Morgan Sears recorded two hits, including a triple and scored a run. Senior
Cassidy Cannella and junior
Julia Strain each registered RBIs.

Allana Vasquez and freshman
Kodi Jimmie added hits of their own.
Freshman
Hailey Peterson tossed 5.2 innings with four strikeouts, one walk and two earned runs.
The Blazers opened the scoring in the top of the first inning after a lead-off single and steal of second. The next play saw a a single and an error record the game's first run.
Belhaven added to its lead in the second with three solo home runs across four at-bats. The visitors made it 5-0 in the third inning off a double with a runner on third base.
Millsaps answered in the bottom of the third when Sears raced to third base with an electric hit to right field. Strain brought Sears home with a fielder's choice squeeze bunt in the next at-bat.
The Blazers sailed a two-run homer over center field in the fifth inning to make it 7-1 for their final runs.
The Majors concluded the scoring in the bottom of the seventh after loaded the bases twice. A fielder's choice RBI by Cannella brought home senior
Alli Nolen for the game's last run.
