Driving for Greatness: Millsaps Golf 2025 Spring Preview

Majors Scheduled for Seven Events in Spring Slate

JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps men's and women's golf programs are looking to resume where they left off after a strong fall 2024. The Majors are slated to compete in six spring events ahead of the 2025 SAA Golf Championships, April 25-27.

Both teams will be returning key veterans and several newcomers who are ready to rise to the challenges ahead.

The women's team features three returners and one newcomer, while the men's team includes eight student-athletes, including three new additions.

On the women's side, senior Annie Piggott will look to continue where she left off after twice being named SAA Women's Golf Athlete of the Week during the fall season.

On Oct.15, the stellar golfer secured first place at the FHU Invitational, finishing with a total score of plus-9 (77-76—153).

Piggott achieved a runner-up finish at the Legends Cup, where she cared plus-3 (71-75—146) at the Legends Golf Club on Lake LBJ.

The Lindsay, Ontario, Canada native placed third at the Crusader Cup, where she recorded a score of plus-14 (77-81—158) and concluded the two rounds just one shot behind second place.

Classmate Sophia Albasini, competing competively behind Piggott, posted her best performance of the fall slate at the U-Dallas Crusaders Cup. The native of Carriere, Miss., tied for 25th at plus-44 (96-92-188).

First-year student Abigail Cerwick, another strong competitor for the Majors, is prepared to compete well in the spring events.

On Oct. 29, Cerwick earned her first collegiate top-10 finish at the Crusader Cup. She recorded two rounds of low scores and tied for sixth place with a plus-21 (84-81—165).

On the men's side, senior Will Danielson will lead the Majors with experience following his outstanding performance during the fall campaign.

At the Greystone Fall Invitational on Sept. 8, Danielson finished third out of 79 collegiate golfers. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada native secured a career-best 36-hole score as a Major at 3-under (70-71—141).

Danielson was named to the Greystone Fall Invitational All-Tournament Team and was the SAA Men's Golf Athlete of the Week.

Freshman Charlie Berglund, building off the fall momentum, looks to continue making a name for himself.

He recorded a season-best performance, tying for 12th place at the Chick-fil-A Invitational on Oct. 22. The impressive first-year student led the Majors with a score of plus-4 (71-77—148). He recorded four birdies, finishing under par on 14 of the 18 holes during his first round.

Other strong competitors for the Majors include seniors Thomas Arensberg and Connor Kreppner. Junior Steven Noak, sophomores Jason Howe and Davin Karst along with freshman Miles Harrison could also make an impact for the Majors in the spring.
