OPELIKA, Ala. – The Millsaps men's golf program competed well at the LTU Spring Break Invitational, which was highlighted by senior
Will Danielson's runner-up finish. Danielson also fired a 66, the lowest one-round score by a Major since April 2016.
Lawrence Technological University played host at Grand National Golf Club for three rounds of par-72 action, Wednesday through Friday.
The Majors finished sixth out of 12 teams and only placed behind five nationally ranked NAIA teams. Millsaps combined to card plus-59 (299-320-304—923).
Danielson was named to the All-Tournament Team after finishing 1-under for the tournament (66-77-72—215). Hailing from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Danielson's 66 was the lowest of all competitors and his 215 score for the tournament was the lowest of his collegiate career. It was also Danielson's fourth top-five finish.
The senior's first round 66 was the best by a Millsaps men's golfer since
Ryan Henry carded a 65 in the second round of the 2016 SAA Men's Golf Championship.
Freshman
Charlie Berglund finished a solid 28th at plus-17 (76-82-75—233), while classmate
Miles Harrison was close on the leaderboard in 35th at plus-22 (80-80-78—238). Harrison bettered his three-round collegiate best by one stroke.
