JACKSON, Miss. – The fantastic Millsaps women's basketball duo of senior
Haley Franklin and sophomore
Garin Freeman added to their impressive list of honors, both being named to the D3hoops.com All-Region teams on Tuesday.
Franklin made the All-Region 6 team for the third time, making it on the Second Team, while Freeman earned a spot on the Third Team.
Franklin was earlier named to the All-SAA First Team and All-SAA Tournament Team after becoming the program's all-time leading scorer on Feb. 8.
She paced the conference at 17.6 points per game and finished with 1,516 career points in three seasons with the Majors.
The Baton Rouge, La., product ended 2024-25 with 181 rebounds, 95 assists, 48 steals and finished with a 47.5 percent field percentage (170-for-358).
Freeman also made the All-SAA First Team as well as the All-SAA Tournament Team and was voted the SAA Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year.
The 2024 Millsaps Female Newcomer of the Year honoree led the conference and ranks 12th in DIII with 136 assists. Freeman now ranks third in program history in a single season with her 136 dimes.
Her 61 steals also are the best in the conference and stand eighth best in the school record book.
Freeman also averaged 13.9 points per game and shot 20-for-22 from the free-throw line in a win at Centenary College on Dec. 13. The Little Rock, Ark., product's 20 made free throws currently are a single-game high across NCAA Division III.
There were 789 players nominated nationwide for these awards by the Sports Information Directors. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region.
Division III basketball is organized into 10 regions. A region with 40 teams or more has three All-Region teams honored, while a region with fewer than 40 teams has a first and second team.
It is the 24rd season D3hoops.com has named All-Region Teams. Players were nominated by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools.
Players from the All-Region team are eligible for the D3hoops.com All-America teams. The teams will be released March 22 at the national championship game.
The D3hoops.com All-American teams, along with those of the respective coaches' associations, are the only ones recognized in the NCAA record book.
