CANTON, Ga. – Millsaps baseball senior pitcher
Nick Tarantino continued his impressive start to the season as he was selected the Southern Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week by league coaches on Monday.
Tarantino had another impressive outing nearly besting No. 14 Centre. The Covington, La., native pitched 8.2 innings, tying a season- and career-high 14 strikeouts in a narrow 2-1 defeat. Tarantino only allowed two ninth-inning runs, three walks and posted a 2.07 ERA against the Colonels.
He collects his second SAA weekly honor after earning recognition on Feb. 17. The Covington, La., native was also tabbed the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Div. III Pitcher of the Month for February.
Totaling 34.1 innings pitched this season, Tarantino is second across NCAA Division III with 52 strikeouts.
The Majors will be back in action hosting Hendrix College on Friday, beginning at 5 p.m. in Jackson, Miss. Live video and live stats will be available at gomajors.com.
