JACKSON, Miss. – Millsaps baseball senior Gray Berry was a tough out at the plate the previous five games and his efforts allowed him to be named the Southern Athletic Association Baseball Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Berry's impressive performances helped the Majors to a 4-1 week at Twenty Field. He batted 11-for-21 with a 0.583 on-base percentage, seven RBIs, six runs, three doubles, three hit by pitches and two stolen bases.
Millsaps (16-6, 4-2 SAA) bested No. 14 Centre on Monday, Stevens on Tuesday and claimed two-of-three games hosting Hendrix over the weekend.
Berry joins classmate Nick Tarantino with SAA weekly recognition as Tarantino was selected the SAA Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 17 and March 19. The duo earned the honors after weekly votes by league head baseball coaches.
Millsaps will next host Belhaven in the Cowboy Maloney Series, beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
