CANTON, Ga. – A duo of Millsaps men's and women's swimming and diving student-athletes were named to the 2024-25 Southern Athletic Association Swimming & Diving All-Sportsmanship Teams. Junior Ben Anderson and senior Chloee Beebe were selected by the Majors, announced by the SAA office on Wednesday.
Formed in 2011, the SAA places a special emphasis on good sportsmanship and fair play amongst all competitors.
Majoring in economics, Anderson was named to the 2024-25 Swimming and Diving All-SAA Sportsmanship Team after an outstanding season.
Anderson secured All-SAA Second Team honors in the 50-yard freestyle by covering the race in 21.05 seconds. He followed with a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (46.68) at the conference championship meet.
The Estes Park, Colo., native was twice named the SAA Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week after a strong finish against the University of Montevallo in October and again in January after strong performances against Centenary College.
Anderson has made Club-40 three times and the Spring SAA Academic Honor Roll twice to date.
Finishing strong behind Anderson, Beebe stood out on the 2024-25 SAA Swimming and Diving All-Sportsmanship team as well.
The Slidell, La., native has made the SAA Academic Honor Roll seven times thus far while also being a member of the Millsaps women's soccer team.
On Jan. 17, she finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:14.46) and also led the way in the 100-yard butterfly (1:07.73) against Centenary College. She helped the Majors secure a 102-78 triumph over the Ladies.
Majoring in biology and spanish with a minor in chemistry, she has conducted research on box turtles, crawfish and performed an honors project on unknown scorpion species.
While on campus, Beebe is a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority, ODK, AED, Tri-Beta, Sigma Phi Eta and Sigma Delta Pi.
During the summer of 2024, she shadowed at Kryder & Harr Vet Clinic while studying abroad in Yucatan, Mexico.
After graduation Beebe plans to attend graduate school to study veterinarian medicine.
