Millsaps Duo Selected to 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District® Swimming Teams

Ben Anderson, Kat Burns Represented Majors well as All-Around Student-Athletes

AUSTIN, Texas – For the second consecutive year, both Millsaps men's and women's swimming and diving programs earned recognition on the CSC Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Teams, which was announced by the College Sports Communicators announced on Tuesday, April 1. Junior Ben Anderson and senior Kat Burns both secured spots for the Majors. 
 
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Swimming & Diving teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's and women's swimming & diving honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.   
   
An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). Additionally, student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's meets OR must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's total contests during the fall campaign. They must also be sophomores or further along in their academic careers. 
 
Anderson was named All-SAA Second Team and twice tabbed the SAA Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week during an impressive season. 
 
Showing great leadership among his teammates, Anderson was also honored as a member of the 2024-25 SAA Swimming and Diving All-Sportsmanship Team. 
 
The Estes Colo., native boasts an impressive 3.95 GPA and has been selected for the CSC Academic All-District® Men's Swimming and Diving Team as well as the SAA Spring Academic Honor Roll twice. 
 
Majoring in economics, Anderson is a three-time member of Club 40. He secured All-SAA Second Team honors in the 50-yard freestyle by finishing in 21.05 seconds. 
 
He also finished in fifth place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.68 seconds at the conference championship meet. 
 
Burns holds an impressive 3.61 GPA and is majoring in accounting with a minor in studio arts. Additionally, Burns has been selected to the CSC Academic All-District® Women's Swimming and Diving Team twice. 
 
Named to the 2023-24 SAA Winter/Spring All-SAA Sportsmanship Team, Burns has been placed on the SAA Spring Academic Honor Roll three times to date. 
 
Burns became the first Millsaps women's swimmer in the program's history to receive All-SAA Honorable Mention honors. 
 
The Daphne, Ala., native delivered a strong performance, finishing third in the conference meet in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.25. 
 
She was also eighth in both the 50-yard freestyle (24.74) and 100-yard freestyle (56.08). 
 
Burns concluded her senior campaign with four individual records. 
 
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late April. 
 
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
