DICKSON, Tenn. – A thrilling comeback by Millsaps women's golf senior
Annie Piggott helped her make history as the first SAA Tournament Medalist in school history with a first-place finish at the 2025 SAA Women's Golf Championship on Sunday. She carded a career-best four-under 68 in the Final Round at the Greystone Golf Club.
The Lindsay, Ontario, product was tied for seventh (four-over 76) after the First Round, moved into fifth after the Second Round (even 72) and her four-under 68 helped best the field by one stroke in the Final Round.
Over her final 18 holes, she carded par on 14 of them and finished with four birdies. She finished 11 birdies and 36 pars for the entire tournament.
Piggott's overall even score through three rounds is the lowest by a Major at conference event since records were kept in the SAA and SCAC eras. She is the first Major to win a conference title since
Russ Hawkins topped the 1993 SCAC Men's Golf Championship and first Millsaps women's golfer to do so in either conference.
The 68 was also the best by a Millsaps women's golfer since at least the early 1990s, while also being the lowest round at the conference tournament by any SAA female competitor since 2022.
Piggott earns back-to-back First Team All-SAA honors after finishing third at the 2024 SAA Women's Golf Championship. Her senior season has featured five individual victories as well as a runner-up showing and a third-place finish.
Freshman
Abigail Cerwick was also named the SAA Women's Golf Newcomer of the Year, while Piggott along with senior
Thomas Arensberg were named to the All-SAA Sportsmanship Team.
Cerwick moved up six places into a tie for 24th with a collegiate best 3-over 75 in the Final Round. Seniors
Mallory Noble (33rd) and
Sophia Albasini (T-34th) rounded out the scoring for the Majors.
On the men's side, freshman
Miles Harrison was a model of consistency scoring a three-over 75 in all three rounds of the tournament. He tied for 24th at plus-9.
Senior
Will Danielson vaulted up five places with a one-over 73 to place 31st and plus-13 overall. Sophomore
Jason Howe (33rd, plus-16), freshman
Charlie Berglund (T-35th, plus-18), senior
Thomas Arensberg (T-35th, plus-18) and junior
Steven Noack (39th, plus-21) were packed closely behind after three rounds.
Piggott will now wait to see if she is one of six individuals not on a qualifying team to be selected to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships. Individuals will be based on their rankings following performances throughout the season. The NCAA will announce the qualifying teams and individuals in a press release on Monday, May 5 at 5 p.m. CT.
