JACKSON, Miss.
– The Millsaps women's soccer program is set to kick off the 2025 season with 11 key veterans and 10 newcomers ready to take charge on the field. The Majors will be led by first-year head coach
Luke Schwarz alongside assistant coaches
Lauren Samford and
Mary Ranager.
Schwarz will be taking over the program after leading or assisting across the NCAA Division II, club, high school and middle school levels. He was also a team captain and MVP at a DIII college and played several seasons professionally.
Senior goalkeeper
Emily Lozano, a 2022 and 2024 All-SAA Honorable Mention standout, will be returning after leading the conference last season with 106 saves. She started all 18 games a year ago.
Keeping her opponents away from reaching the back of the net, Lozano also recorded a career-high 15 saves at Centre College on Oct. 15. She also helped the Majors better Centenary College, 1-0 and Tougaloo College, 12-0 during the 2024 season.
Freshman
Keila Torres joins the ranks in goal, hailing from Round Rock, Texas.
Named to the 2024 All-SAA Honorable Mention team last season, junior midfielder
Alex Bremond, a strong leader on the Majors squad, finished first on the team with six goals scored, six assists and 20 shots on goal.
Bremond's assist total ranked fourth in the league last season, while her goal tally was fifth. On Sept. 15, Bremond netted a career-high three goals and four assists in a cross-town victory against Tougaloo College.
The midfield position will also be led by sophomore
Zillia Biniam (three goals, eight shots on goal). Biniam will play as a defender for the Majors as well.
Last season she appeared in seven games, while making four starts. Her freshman campaign was abbreviated due to injury.
The midfield will also be covered by senior
Haley James (started in all 18 games, recorded 12 shots and five shots on goal), senior
Keely Marshall (started all 18 games, one goal scored, two assists), junior
Becca Quick (18 appearances, one goal, one assist), sophomore
Abby Wiard and graduate
Lily Butcher.
First-year students
Eliana Candebat,
Lola Downer,
Rachel Parr and
Ava Sutton add depth at midfield also.
Leading the forwards will be sophomore
Suzanna Busbee and junior
Mollie Spradley.
Last season, Busbee started in all 18 games for the Majors and made an impact on the team immediately. Putting in the work on the field, the Homewood, Ala., native finished second on the squad with five goals scored and 14 shots on target.
Spradley, another dominant force on the squad, started in 16 games for the Majors last season while making 17 appearances. She finished second on the team with five assists and scored her first goal against Tougaloo College.
The defensive side will be led by senior
Myah Beebe along with newcomers
Rowan Crovetto,
Hope Monk,
Alicia Olivas, Anahi Sanchez and
Jordyn Templeton all look to have a breakout season for the Majors.
Millsaps will begin the regular season against McMurry University at Harper Davis Field on Saturday, Aug. 30. The regular season features nine home matches before the 2025 SAA Women's Soccer Championship gets underway on Nov. 6.
