CANTON, Ga. — Millsaps women's basketball center
Elyse Warren continued her record-breaking season and secured her third Southern Athletic Association Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week honor of the season after a conference-wide Sports Information Directors' vote and announcement on by the league office on Monday.
Warren had a historic and phenomenal week for the Majors in a pair of victories. She set the program and SAA single-game rebounding record with 33 boards in a 55-36 triumph at Rhodes on Saturday. Her rebounding total ranks most across NCAA Division III student-athletes this season and is tied for the most in DIII since Dec. 2018. Warren also tied a career-high 24 points to go along with two steals and an assist against the Lynx.
The Memphis, Tenn., native averaged 24.5 rebounds and 19.5 points after posting 16 boards, 15 points, a steal and an assist in an 81-69 victory hosting the University of the Ozarks on Tuesday. She finished connecting on 55 percent of her field goals (17-of-31) in the two wins.
Monday's press release was Warren's third SAA weekly recognition of the season (Nov. 10, Dec. 22, Jan. 5) and seventh of her stellar career. She holds the program's career rebounding record as well and ranks third across DIII in total rebounds (190) and rebounding average (17.3 rpg) this season.
