Cameron Lumar Boast 16 Points in Tough Loss at Home

JACKSON, Miss. — The Millsaps men's basketball team fell to Centre College, 80-73 in a closely contested game inside the Hangar Dome on Friday.

Millsaps (12-10, 3-8 SAA) scored 38 points in the paint and received 24 points from their bench, but Centre's (12-10, 5-7 SAA) overall shooting accuracy and rebounding edge proved decisive.

Junior Cameron Lumar led the Majors with 16 points, connecting on three 3-pointers and recording three steals.

Senior Caleb Kent added to the effort by scoring 11 points and collecting five rebounds.

Junior Colt Donley contributed 11 points and two assists, converting four of six from the free-throw line.

Classmate Rodney Phillips Jr. was efficient from the field, making all five of his shots to finish with 10 points.

The game started with Millsaps taking an early advantage through effective scoring in the paint.

Donley opened the scoring with a jumper, and junior Davion James quickly followed with another, setting up the tone for the Majors.

Moments later with 14:01 minutes to go junior Jaxon Toney posterized his opponent with a fastbreak dunk inside the paint as the Majors lead, 15-10.

Despite Centre keeping pace with multiple lead changes throughout the first half, Millsaps maintained a narrow lead.

Kent's consistent shooting contributed significantly, including a layup at 4:07 to extend the lead.

Lumar hit a crucial 3-pointer at 2:27 to widen the gap. The half concluded with Millsaps leading 39–38 after a closely contested start.

Millsaps fought to maintain momentum in the second half, with Phillips Jr. and Lumar contributing critical points to keep the game tight. Phillips Jr. made a key layup at 10:51, and Lumar's 3-pointer at 9:37 helped narrow the deficit.

However, Centre capitalized on free throws and scoring opportunities to pull ahead, concluding the half with a 42–34 advantage. The game ended with Centre securing the victory, 80–73.

The Majors will be back in action on Sunday to face Sewanee at home inside the Hangar Dome beginning at 2 p.m. Live video and live stats will be provided at gomajors.com.
