JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps College baseball team was slated to finish fifth in the 2026 SAA Baseball Preseason Poll. The Majors, coming off of a 2025 SAA Regular Season Championship, received 34 points in this year's vote, announced on Wednesday.
Trinity secured 56 points and seven first-place votes, while Centre tallied 50 points and the remaining first-place plaudit. After a very successful season where the Majors were picked to finish sixth last season, the team will surely have a chip on their shoulder as they look to recreate the success they had in 2025.
The Majors journey this season will come with a lot of new faces, as the Majors graduated "14 guys that contributed tremendously on the field and on the mound to an NCAA Regional team" as coach Page said.
Those graduated include the reigning SAA Player of the Year in Bradley Pelle, SAA Pitcher of the Year Nick Tarantino, as well as six other exiting players who achieved SAA honors last season.
However, the Majors have 31 total returners from last season that are eager and ready to step into larger roles.
Coach Page is definitely not one of those new faces, as the Hall of Fame coach enters his 38th season as the Majors head coach. He was able to bring in a haul of incoming players, totaling 22 new additions. Page will face a new challenge with the additions of Southwestern and Trinity, the latter coming off a trip to the College World Series.
Once again the Majors find themselves severely underrated and looking to win back-to-back titles in the SAA.
