JACKSON, Miss. — The Millsaps College baseball team fell to MUW, 30-6 in a non-conference matchup at Twenty Field on Tuesday.
Senior
EJ Ousley finished with an RBI, run scored, walk, stolen base, and two hit by pitches. Junior
Wesley Grant added a pair of RBIs and scored a run.
Freshman
Hudson Moberly, sophomore
Jackson Wall, and classmate
Kyle Veal Jr. also added an RBI each. First year catcher
Christian Kretzer add an RBI, doubled, walk, and score twice.
Senior
Ryan Laiche only surrendered one hit in 1.1 innings of relief, while freshman
Cade Starns tossed a scoreless inning with a strikeout.
The Owls scored in the first to open the game and four runs in the third. Millsaps got on the board when Grant singled home Kretzer from second base.
MUW added three runs in the fourth, but Millsaps answered with a trio of tallies in the bottom of the fifth. Grant tallied a would-be sacrifice fly that was dropped by the Owl left fielder, which senior
Layne Cross to score unobstructed with one out.
Ousley then grounded out to plate Kretzer before Moberly singled up the middle to bring Grant home. The Majors cut the deficit to 8-4, but the Owls exploded to outscore the Majors, 22-2 over the final four innings.
