CANTON, Ga. — The Millsaps College football team finished last season with a 6-4 overall record and ranked fourth in the conference standings. The Majors look to build on that success after tying for fourth in the 2026 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) football preseason poll.
Announced by the league office following a head coaches' vote, Trinity University was selected to finish first with 54 points and five first-place votes. Berry College earned the second spot with 52 points and three first-place votes.
Centre College secured the third spot with 38 points, while Millsaps and Maryville College tied for fourth right behind with 37 points.
Millsaps football head coach Brandon Lechtenberg, the 2024 SAA Coach of the Year, will return to lead the Majors alongside his nine assistant coaches as they pursue a conference championship title.
Last season, 15 Majors were named to the All-SAA football teams, with eight returning for the 2026 season. The Majors finished third in the conference with 25 touchdowns and fourth with 2,460 passing yards while recording a conference-low six interceptions.
The offense will be led by sophomore dual-threat quarterback Grant Bizjack, who was named SAA Rookie of the Year following the 2025 season after earning five SAA Athlete of the Week honors.
The Majors will host Belhaven University in the Riverside Rumble to open the 2026 season at Harper Davis Field. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3.
