JACKSON, Miss. — Graduate student Jannik Stockfisch's late second-half goal lifted the Millsaps College men's soccer team past LeTourneau University 1-0 on Senior Day Saturday at Harper Davis Field.
The Majors also recognized seniors Gavin Pocasangre, Ethan Pratt, Braden Walters, and Ian Woodrey for their contributions and success at Millsaps College, along with graduate student Jannik Stockfisch, who transferred from Barton College, helping the Majors to a great 2026 regular-season start
Junior Drew McKeithen, freshman Zachary DImaond, and first-year student Reid Brenner each recorded one shot and a shot on goal while recent Southern Athletic Association Defensive Athlete of the week Edward Steinwand boasted one save against the YellowJackets. Steinwand becomes the first Major to provide three straight clean sheets since at least the 1990 season. He is also one of six goalkeepers currently with a perfect save percentage across NCAA Division III, and three or more shutouts.
In the first half, Brenner looked to give the Majors an early command after taking a shot within 1:56 minutes on the scoreboard, but the ball would land in the YellowJackets goalkeeper's hands.
Moments later, LeTourneau received its first yellow card of the contest for unsporting behavior. Looking to put the Majors on the scoreboard first, Diamond fired a shot from distance, but LeTourneau's shot-stopper made the save at 3:26.
Both teams would trade off fouls among each other in a tough competition; with 39:46 on the clock, Steinwand dismantled a Yellow Jackets attempt to keep the match scoreless.
Freshamn Valentin Avila would make an attempt to score within 43:18, but the YellowJackets would collect the save. Millsaps fighting back would receive a yellow card to close out the first half in knotted at 0-0.
Millsaps kept the match scoreless through a LeTourneau push midway through the second half, junior Ellis Dykes took a Millsaps shot at 65:22, and the teams traded more second-half pressure.
The Majors pressed forward late, with sophomore Myles Walden recording a shot and earning a corner in the 73rd minute. The Majors earned another corner at 79:45 before Drew McKeithen's attempt was saved by the YellowJackets at 85:44. junior Kaleb Wilkins followed with another attempt after the ensuing corner kick.
Brenner stepped up to take a free kick from 38 yards out after Dykes was fouled by two YellowJackets defenders. The ball deflected off the post before Stockfisch headed the rebound into the back of the net, giving the Majors their first goal of the season in a 1-0 triumph on Saturday.
